I hope everyone is off to a great start to this week! We've had a lot more rain here. I think we've finally had enough. Ha!
Thursday, in tutoring we first worked on 3 digit by 3 digit regrouping using my 3 Digit Regrouping Airplane Task Cards and the game that comes with it. The girl I tutor likes airplanes, especially purple ones so I thought she would like this game. If you land on an airplane you get to pretend to be an airplane and then go again! You can also use them as traditional task cards. Children can write on the cards if laminated. There is enough room to do so.
Next I introduced her to subtraction regrouping. We worked on my 2 Digit Subtraction Regrouping Robots Task cards. If you land on a robot you get to go again. We didn't have time to do too many problems, but she caught on very quickly and even told me how she was solving each problem. I teach her the traditional way, not Common Core, which I don't believe in and she doesn't have to do in private school. She's proof that the traditional way still works and that children can grasp the skill doing things traditionally.
Thank you for hoppin by Hopkins' Hoppin' Happenings! Keep on smiling!
